Dear Friend,
In May 2013, I will be nuts enough to take part in a 22 days expedition that will hopefully transform the lives of many including mine. I will climb Island Peak, one of the satellite peaks of Mount Everest, summiting at 6189 meters (20.305 ft.).
The expedition is part of a huge fundraising effort that is driven by the aim of enhancing the educational prospects of many youngsters and ultimately leading to improvements in the living standards of the whole community of Jhumlawang village.
The Island Peak Climbing Charity Challenge was inspired by hard-working men and women who decided to take charge of their lives and mobilize their community in order to cater for the very basic needs of all members of the village as well as future generations. The aim of the challenge is to raise a sufficient amount of money to cover the core costs of two scholarships that will be awarded to two young graduates of the village to complete 3 years courses in Animal Science and Plant Science in Kathmandu.
Additionally, further funds generated by the expedition will go towards the joint Primary School Extension Project of JVF-Nepal, Help Us Learn and our partner organisations.
